Difficult challenges and an unhealthy attitude were my turning point. I didn't know how to overcome the trials of life and was stressed out for months. During most of those months, I couldn’t sleep. I tried drinking and smoking weed to get through the day, but even that wasn’t working anymore. I began experiencing heart palpitations, shortness of breath, and the right side of my body started going numb. I was so scared, and I really thought I was having a stroke or heart attack. At one point, I thought I was going to die, so I went to the hospital. It was a terrible time, but it led me to cry out to God. I ended up staying in the hospital for 5 days, praying and asking God for forgiveness. I had been living life my own way, partying in the world, and hearing Him speak to me, but I ignored His voice. The guilt I felt led me to repentance. God comforted me every day I was in the hospital. The doctors told me I was under a lot of stress, advised me to rest, and prescribed me Xanax. After I left the hospital, I immediately went to my church and fell at the altar. The tears that fell from my face in immense gratitude are something I’ll never forget. A few months later, I asked God to help me with my negative attitude and to deliver me from substance abuse and prescription medication. It was a grueling process, but I hung in there with God. Twelve years of just me and Him, and now I’m a new creature in Christ, delivered and set free!
